Technology Resources: Google Products & Me

Technology revolves around Google products for my day-to-day success.  Sharing documents on Google Docs allows for me to collaborate across campus, and the country, with others in a way that is efficient, secure and doesn’t require direct access to my work computer.  Google Voice takes us a step further for our Resident Director on Call system.  The Resident Assistants call one phone number at any time for Duty phone calls.  The Google Voice system logs each of the phone calls, and attempts (not always successfully) to translate voicemails to text messages.  In the end, as Resident Directors, we have a shared level of accountability, we preserve our personal phones from being distributed and we can remotely turn the duty phone into any phone we are comfortable using!  Google forms saves us on survey monkey’s ten-questions-for-free limit, and has a myriad of personalization!  And Google blogger is accessible by all of the department to contribute and maintain connections to our residents!
